How it Works
Simply open the large screw top on the top of the pouch. Fill the pouch with water to the “Water fill line” and hang it up in a sunny position at least 3-10m away from the house and out of reach of domestic animals and children. The pouch contains the fly attractant. It will dissolve when water is added to the trap according to the package directions. Once inside, the flies cannot escape and eventually drown in the water added to the trap. The water should be at the fill line so that there will be enough for the flies to drown. The trap will cover a radius of 10 to 12m.
Positioning of the Trap
The DISPOSABLE! Fly Trap is intended to be used outdoors. It will help control the fly population outside before it ever becomes a nuisance inside. We don’t recommend indoor use of the trap.
It is meant for outdoor use only, as it is intended to attract the flies away from human activity and it also needs sunlight to activate the attractant and air circulation to disperse it. In addition, the odour from the attractant may make it unpleasant to use indoors.
Suggested locations for the trap:
-
Near a dog kennel or run
-
In a barn
-
Around poultry, hogs, sheep, dairy and beef cattle
-
Near rubbish bins
-
Near a compost pile
You may hang it from a tree limb, fence or post. Hang about 3-10 metres from a house to draw flies away from human activity. The trap will work in the shade when the temperature is very warm, but in cooler temperatures, placing the trap in direct sunlight will help activate the attractants.
Pets
If eaten by pets give the animal a bowl of water or milk to drink to dilute the product and keep the pets under observation. It could cause slight discomfort to the animal’s mouth or stomach. Scientists and veterinarians have reviewed the possible effects of the ingredients and have found no lasting harmful effects.
Full Trap and Disposal
The trap is full when the flies are no longer able to get in because the cone entrance is blocked. The water in the trap will also appear black. When the bag is full, screw the top cap in and place in the rubbish bin. You may want to wrap it in a separate plastic bag first to prevent it from leaking.
